The newest model in our WK180C lineup, the WK180C Gen 3 takes the feedback received from Canadian shooters over the last six years and introduces plenty of innovative features to the upper receiver assembly. The WK180C Gen 3 started with a complete redesign of the gas system from the ground up and paired it with our dependable WK180C Gen 2 Lower Receiver assembly to make the most reliable non-restricted semi-automatic 5.56 NATO rifle on the Canadian market today. The WK180C Gen 3 still uses non-proprietary STANAG magazines and an AR-15 trigger mechanism, but also now features a three-position gas regulator (Zero, Normal, Adverse), an ejection port cover, and a brass deflector.
Redesigning the gas system also allowed other improvements to be introduced to the rifle. Where previously the gas system was constrained by the height of the handguard and the upper receiver, the new higher handguard allows not only for a more rugged gas system but also ensures that any sight will mount to your rail. The upper receiver features a steel insert on the left side which effectively balances the weight savings of aluminum and the wear-resistance of steel. Combined with the redesigned bolt carrier, the steel side plate ensures that the user can not inadvertently assemble his firearm in a way that might damage the upper receiver. The side plate also allows for the nesting of a full-length steel cocking handle, which prevents foreign material from entering the working parts of the rifle.
All Kodiak Defence firearms are designed and manufactured in Canada, providing Canadians with affordable, reliable, and lightweight rifles for recreational shooting and hunting. While we use some foreign components in our firearms, the capital parts are all manufactured in North America, with almost all of them being made in Canada from Canadian aluminum or steel. The upper receiver is finished STANAG 4694 rail system (Picatinny rail) to allow for the fitting of optics or iron sights (not included), and the free-float railed handguard has M-Lok slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions to allow for the attachment of your favorite accessories (sold separately). The handguard has a convenient slot for on-the-fly gas adjustment.
